From December 5 - 7, 2022, the Sozosei Foundation will host the 3rd Annual Sozosei Summit to Decriminalize Mental Illness at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) in Philadelphia, PA.
Today, we seek applications from nonprofit organizations (or those with a nonprofit fiscal sponsor) eager to share updates on the implementation and/or operation of 988 in their communities through PechaKucha presentations at the Summit. These presentations will be held on December 5, 2022, in person, at PAFA.
Ideally, presentations should offer Summit participants insights into challenges faced and lessons learned while introducing 988 in local communities. It is our hope that these presentations will shed light on obstacles encountered on the road toward full-scale 988 implementation so that Summit participants may learn from the experience of others and hasten the success of 988 programs throughout the nation.
WHAT IS A PECHAKUCHA?
A PechaKucha is a lively and succinct method of conveying ideas in a visually compelling fashion. In a PechaKucha, presenters share 20 slides with images only (no written words or numbers), with 20 seconds of commentary per slide, for a presentation of 6 minutes and 40 seconds in total. Learn more about the PechaKucha style here, view PechaKuchas presented at the 2021 Sozosei Summit here and view additional samples presentations here.
WHO IS THE AUDIENCE?
The audience for the PechaKucha presentations will include funders, policymakers, advocates, doctors, judges, people with lived experience, and others attending the Summit.
WHAT IS THE BENEFIT?
The Foundation will provide professional communications support to assist you in creating your PechaKucha, providing a polished presentation that can be used by your organization in future settings. The PechaKucha presentations will also be featured on the Sozosei Foundation website and promoted via our social media channels after the event. Additionally, organizations selected to present a PechaKucha at the Summit will receive a grant of $5,000 that can be used for general operations support and/or Summit related expenses.
HOW DO I APPLY?
If you are interested in being considered as a 988 PechaKucha presenter at the 2022 Sozosei Summit, please submit a concept statement through the Foundation’s grants portal by July 15, 2022.
